Well, that was 2025

2025 was an absolutely shit year for me on all fronts.
I slowed, or even pretty much stopped, my business from taking on projects. This was mainly due to being disillusioned by what I was seeing in the tech world.
Social media shit-posters, LinkedIn self-congratulating fuckers, an insane amount of BOTs, and to top it off ai slop all over the fucking place that brings no fucking value to anyone!
Fuck, I hate ai!!!
So I lost the will to create anything new. And just started posted videos from my archive to at least feel like I was doing something.
But man, I felt like shit for even doing that. It felt like I was letting my, albeit very small, audience and email subscribers down.
On a personal level, some of you know that my beloved Woof! died in September, and that hit me harder than anything. But I’ve started to accept it and although he’s not here, he will always be in my heart.
Also some family matters, which I obviously won’t speak about, but all in all 2025 was an absolutely mind fuckingly shit year for me!
So what now?
Repairing a business is hard, but I’ve been here before and know it’ll be fine. I’ve just got to work a little harder to pull in old, and new clients.
One thing’s for sure, I want to stop relying on social media, and get back into the real world as much as possible.
For a start, I want to stop giving ‘big tech’ the things I create.
So from today I will only be posting (some) links on social media to my blog posts, and share via my newsletter, rather than posting for the algorithm by uploading my videos etc.
Why now? Why today? What happened?
Well, the image above was my view this morning. When I saw it, it slapped me back into reality, and it spoke to me about what I’ve been going though. And how to get back in the saddle.
It’s not the shit you see online.
It’s a world without filters.
It’s a tangible thing.
It’s fucking real!
So I took stock and realised…
I’ve been in ‘Tech/IT’ for 35+ years. MacJunky was founded in 2007. I’ve worked with 10s of 1000s of amazing people and their projects in that time.
That’s fucking real!
That’s fucking human!
That’s no fucking ai shit!
That’s what I LOVE to do.
That’s what I do extremely well.
That’s what people expect of me.
And finally, show it to myself that I can be in a slump and still rise above it all.
Here’s to a fantastic 2026 for you, and for me!
